Numismatics

Maria Caccamo Caltabiano is an archaeologist and numismatist. She is Full Professor of Greek and Roman Numismatics at the University of Messina and Vice-President of the International Numismatic Council.

Cecilia von Heijne is an archaeologist and numismatist. She is Senior Curator at the Royal Coin Cabinet, Stockholm. Her research focuses on medieval numismatics, especially the Viking Age and the 14th century.

Ehsan Shavarebi is an archaeologist and numismatist. His main areas of interest are Sasanian numismatics and iconography as well as historical geography of the pre-Islamic Iranian world.

Reinhard Wolters is an ancient historian and numismatist specialized in ancient economic history. He researches and teaches in Vienna where he is the head of the Institute for Numismatics and Monetary History at the University of Vienna.

Lutz Ilisch is a numismatist and Islamic scholar. At the University of Tübingen, the expert in Islamic coinages is head of the Research Center for Islamic Numismatics with its almost 75,000 coins.

Khadijeh (Zohreh) Baseri is an Iranian numismatist. In Tehran, she serves as keeper and curator of coins and seals at the National Museum of Iran.

Sebastian Steinbach is a historian who focuses on numismatics as well as the monetary and economic history of medieval and modern times. After having spent many years in the coin trade and at various universities, he is now curator of the coin cabinet of the state museum in Hannover.

Bernhard Weisser has been working at the Berlin Münzkabinett since 1996 – initially as assistant, then curator, and today he is the director. He also works nationally and internationally and is known to be a scientist who has initiated and moved a lot with colleagues and collectors.

Joe Cribb is a numismatist and former Keeper of Coins and Medals at the British Museum. He is an expert in monetary history and Asian currencies, with a main focus on coins of the Kushan Empire.

Nathan T. Elkins is Associate Professor of Art History, Greek and Roman, at Baylor University, Waco/Texas. He is an expert in Roman numismatics, especially imperial coinage and coin iconography.
