Stephen Album Rare Coins, USA-Santa Rosa (CA)

Steve Album’s 40th auction in May was not full of six-figure items but with material collectors are looking for. You could find the finest known example of a 1932 riyal from Iraq, and a jacket money “cloth” from Taiwan. Again internet bidding was very strong.

Leu Numismatik

Leu Numismatik’s 16th Web Auction achieved excellent prices. The Bentsen Collection, Rhakotis-Collection and Tesserae-Collection were particularly popular with the bidders.

Heidelberger Münzhandlung, D-Heidelberg

The international coin trade is booming thanks to Covid. This affects the prices of coins of the German Empire, too. In Heidelberger Münzhandlung’s auction, pieces of outstanding quality achieved results that had previously been unheard of: 25,500 euros for 1 mark 1879 A and 17,750 euros for 5 marks “Eichbaum” 1930 E.

Nomos

Nomos e-sale Obolos 19 was a success selling 95% of all lots and more than doubling the total starting price. Alan Walker presents some interesting and honorable results of the sale.

Roma Numismatics

In Roma Numismatics’ E-Sale 83 1,824 lots went under the hammer, resulting in total sales of £341,974. Especially Roman coins hit notable results.

Dr. Busso Peus Nachf.

The spring auction of Dr. Busso Peus Nachf. exceeded all expectations. The total hammer prize almost doubled the estimate. Greek coins with excellent provenances and rare modern gold coins were particularly in demand.

Heritage Auctions

Heritage offered historic and never-before-offered US coins. They yielded a trio of million-dollar lots. The sale with important selections from the Partrick and Simpson Collections raised $47,783,690 in total – 42 percent more than last year’s event!

Stack’s Bowers Galleries

Stack’s Bowers Galleries sold in their April 2021 Hong Kong auction the “Pinnacle Collection”. The 162 lots among them many coins not seen on the market for decades realized nearly $19.2 million featuring a Constantine Ruble sold for $2.64 million.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries

Stack’s Bowers Galleries set new records in their March 2021 Las Vegas Auction. The legendary 1822 Half Eagle sold for astonishing $8.4 million placing itself as the most valuable US Mint gold coin ever sold. And it was not the only US Mint record!

Künker, D-Osnabrück

Thanks to 2,300 bidders from all over the world, the total of Künker’s last auction sale resulted in almost twice its estimate. One reason for this success were outstanding collections. We present the top five from the Tesmer Collection of Brandenburg-Prussia and the top three from the extraordinary collection of Roman Alexandrian coinage.
