In some phases in Greek and Roman history coin production was interrupted for years, decades or even centuries. The 6th International Numismatic Conference of the Coin Cabinet of the Royal Library of Belgium is focusing on the long interruptions in coinage.

On 8 May 2021 the Oriental Numismatic Society will be meeting online. As usual the Research Centre for Islamic Numismatics Tübingen will be holding a conference on that occasion – this year via Zoom. You can still register.

Countless sources tell us the story from the perspective of the winners. Dumbarton Oaks dedicates a symposium to the question what it meant to be conquered. It will be hold via Zoom on 16 and 17 April 2021.

In October, a conference on the bullion trade in medieval and early modern Europe took place in Prague. Don’t worry if you’ve missed this opportunity: the organisers provide you with recordings of all sessions!

On 18th December 2020 an online conference will be dedicated to coins from Roman military sites. The event is organized by Alexander Heising, Matthias Kalisch, Klaus Kortüm, and Stefan Krmnicek.

Due to the pandemic, the “Numismatic meetings” organised by different Athens-based research institutions and traditionally held in Athens, in 2020/21 will become an online event enabling a much larger audience to attend.

Bulgaria will have its first numismatic online conference. “History & Society in Numismatic Perspectives” has been shifted to a web conference. The live sessions with discussions and key speeches will take place from 10 to 12 November 2020 and you can still register.

The third three-yearly International Numismatic Conference of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand takes place in Wellington from October 16 to 19, 2020. Over 100 people are registered and international speakers will give lectures via video conference.

Many events have been cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak. “The world in your hand. New directions in numismatic research” is an early career scholars conference which will be held on 3 April – as a video conference. Registration is still open.
