With Auction 153 Frankfurter Münzhandlung continues its long tradition. The auction’s core is an extensive collection of Gold Coins of the German Empire – 257 single lots, featuring almost exclusively objects of outstanding grade.

Roma Numismatics, GB-London

1,367 lots went under the hammer resulting in total sales of £3,143,566 (excluding fees). The sale’s highlight was an excessively rare aureus of Julia Domna in Fleur de Coin condition, sold for £80,000.

Rare Coins, RU-Moscow

Moscow-based auction house Rare Coins has put together their largest auction so far with exactly 1,000 lots mostly from Russia including numismatic books and catalogues. Two out of three of the submitted lots are of the highest collectible quality: MS (Uncirculated) and Proof.

An early Umayyad gold dinar dated 105h (723AD) from the ‘Mine of the Commander of the Faithful’ is the second specimen ever to be offered at public auction. Estimated at £1.4-1.6 million this is the highest estimate for any lot previously offered for sale by the auction house.

Coins from the Mel Wacks Collection of Ancient Judaean and Related Coins will be sold by Goldberg Auctioneers. The collection has been assembled for over 50 years. Now Mel Wacks, a renowned expert on the subject, has decided to pass it along.
