In their Hong Kong Auction Heritage will be offering a selection of vintage Chinese coins. But another subject sees increasing interest among collectors: contemporary Chinese coins. The sale features some extremely rare and high graded specimens.

As one of just 10 specialists in the last 40 years, Mark Borckardt, Senior Cataloger and Senior Numismatist at Heritage Auctions, has been awarded The Herbert Silberman Award by the Early American Coppers Club.

Heritage offered historic and never-before-offered US coins. They yielded a trio of million-dollar lots. The sale with important selections from the Partrick and Simpson Collections raised $47,783,690 in total – 42 percent more than last year’s event!

Heritage Auctions reported total first quarter sales of $337,410,572, an increase of 16 percent over the same period last year. 80 percent of all bids came from online sources.

The upcoming Heritage US Coins Signature Auction offers more than 2,500 lots from 14 single-owner collections. The auction includes parts of the collections of Donald G. Partrick, Bob R. Simpson, and many US coins of the highest rarity.

The Paramount Collection sold for a total of $41,941,592. Top lot was a British 5 Pound Pattern of 1937, which is now the most expensive British coin ever sold. And there were even more records.

Mark Borckardt, Senior Numismatist and Cataloger at Heritage, will soon be relocating for private motives. The ANA’s 2020 Numismatist of the Year will continue as a consignment director between the Chicago and Dallas offices of Heritage.

The Central States Numismatic Society 2021 convention has been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic effects. Nevertheless Heritage’s U.S. Coins and Currency auction will still be held as scheduled from 21st to 24th April 2021 - in Dallas.

2020 was the year of the pandemic, but has boosted online sales. Heritage Auctions reports a growth of the company, total sales of $873,117,274 with $278.9 million by the numismatic market alone and internet bidding at a record height.

Heritage presents American gold and silver coins from The Paramount Collection highlighted by a 1880 Coiled Stella. The sale also contains the best selection of European numismatic rarities ever offered by Heritage. Due to severe wetter conditions the auction has been postponed one week!
