Salzburg – 5th issue in “Austria by its Children” series
On May 7, the Austrian Mint in Vienna issued the fifth silver coin in its series “Austria by its Children”. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, of course, instantly comes to mind when one thinks of Salzburg, and indeed such was the case for young artist Melisa Bejic, the student who co-designed the reverse of this coin.

Of knights in shining armour – exhibition in Schaffhausen
Between April 10 and September 21, 2014, the Museum zu Allerheiligen in Schaffhausen features an exhibition on medieval tournaments. The Royal Mint announces plans for first visitor centre
The Royal Mint has unveiled plans to develop a visitor centre at its headquarters in south Wales. Construction will begin this spring, subject to planning permission, and is expected to be completed during 2015.

Reversal of the Burden of Proof
The European Parliament has approved a new directive concerning the return of national treasures. The directive puts private collectors at an unprecedented disadvantage. For the first time the burden of proof with regard to the “due care and attention” regulation will officially be placed on the possessor – apparently even for “archaeological” coins with the nominal value “0”!
