The 1,145 lots of Roma Numismatics Ltd.’s Auction XXI sold for over £4 million. The highest selling lot was a histamenon of two Byzantine empresses with a provenance going back to 1958.

Heritage Auctions

The Paramount Collection sold for a total of $41,941,592. Top lot was a British 5 Pound Pattern of 1937, which is now the most expensive British coin ever sold. And there were even more records.

Kolbe & Fanning Numismatic Booksellers auctioned off highlights from the numismatic library of the late Richard Margolis. The sale attracted considerable attention from all over the world, with well over 250 bidders registering for the 539-lot sale.

Leu Numismatik

1.5 million CHF - more than five time the total estimated - was the result of Leu Numismatics’ 15th online auction highlighted by a wonderful drachm with the portrait of Poppaea and an aureus of Numerian.

Nomos AG

Stephen Album Rare Coins held its Auction 39 from 21st to 25th January 2021. The bidding totaled $1.94 million (including buyer’s fees) on a pre-sale estimate of $1.08 million with a sell-through rate of 95.2%.

Dix Noonan Webb

An extremely fine and rare 50 Shilling of Oliver Cromwell sold for £471,200 in a Dix Noonan Webb auction in January. This is a world record price for a Cromwellian coin which was caused by its quality and its rarity: only 12 specimens are believed to exist.

CNG’s Triton XXIV sale offered a choice selection of the most famous ancient coins like a Pantikapaion stater and an EID MAR denarius. However, the most expensive coin was another one.

Heritage Auctions

It’s a time of records: Heritage sold the world’s most valuable gold coin for $9.36 million as well as five US coins for more than $2 million each. The events scheduled for the FUN and the NYINC realized in total $90,687,367.
