Thursday before World Money Fair, less than 1,000 lots were auctioned off by Künker. However, they were a class of their own. On an estimate of 6 million euros, they sold for 8.8 million euros. The hammer prices for coins from the Holy Roman Empire, the USA and Russia were particularly high.

On the occasion of its Berlin Auction, Künker presents three auction catalogs: Catalog 285 with exquisite German and world coins and medals, Catalog 286 with the Ottar Ertzeid Collection featuring coins from the Swedish Possessions, and Catalog 287 with the Toni Barth Collection with German coins since 1871.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries rang in the New Year with tremendous results at the January New York International Auction. An excellent array of coins was anchored by several superb collections. Ancient coins, Russian issues and Great Britain coinage saw impressive results.

Heritage Auctions announced that it sold $70,822,868 in U.S. coins, U.S. and World Currency and World & Ancient Coins at the FUN show and the NYINC during the first three weeks of 2017 – a 30 percent increase over 2016. Find here the reviews.

Heritage Auctions looks back at its third-best year ever, with Sports, Comics & Comics notching record 2016 growth. In the $192 million U.S. Coin auction sales, the firm records 23 individual lots for at least $250,000, and a “Holy Grail” Dime for $2 million.

The next auction by Stephen Album Rare Coins will be January 19-22, 2017 at the firm’s offices in Santa Rosa, CA. This auction has 2,692 lots of Ancient, Islamic, Chinese, World, Indian, and Numismatic Literature.

Kolbe & Fanning’s 2017 New York Book Auction in January will feature a wide variety of numismatic books from around the world. The sale includes 400 lots covering ancient, medieval and modern foreign coins, as well as U.S. numismatics.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries auction of world coins, world paper money and ancient coins, is held in conjunction with the NYINC from Jan. 12 to 14, 2017. The Russian section can only be described as magnificent. But there are also collections from Britain, Mexico and Central America.

One of the most extensive collections of extraordinary high quality ancient Jewish coins, assembled by a Long Island Doctor over two decades, will be auctioned by Goldberg Coins & Collectibles in New York on January 10, 2017.

Classical Numismatic Group held their annual Triton auction in conjunction with the 45th Annual New York International Numismatic Convention featuring 1696 lots of ancient coins and realized $11,292,580 on the hammer.
