Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio packed their upcoming Hong Kong Auction of Chinese and Asian coins and currency with exceptional rarities and numismatic treasures. The sale is to be held Monday August 6 through Wednesday August 8, 2018.

The Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio August Hong Kong Auction realized $4.08 million. With $360,000 far and away the highest price. This hammer price belongs to a Chinese gold coin from 1992.

From 18-19 July 2018 Dix Noonan Webb will be holding their Live Online Auction of Orders, Decorations, Medals and Militaria with room bidding available at their London offices. As usually collectors will find many special collections.

In their 150th auction Kolbe & Fanning offers highlights of the extraordinary numismatic library formed by John W. Adams. On July 14 every plated and unplated catalogue issued by Henry and Samuel Hudson Chapman will be on sale for the first time ever.

Cayón Subastas hold a sale in Madrid on July 3, 2018. About 1,000 lots were distributed in four parts. Almost 250 lots were made up by a very important collection of Iberian denarii. Top lot was an extremely rare Gerona 1809 Spanish silver crown which realised 32,400 euros.

Cayón Subastas will hold another auction “out of the order” in Madrid, Spain, on 3 July 2018. Four collections will be on offer with Iberian denarii, rare pesetas like a 5 pesetas 1809 of which only three specimens are known, and a gold collection.

Solidus Numismatik offers 272 lots from ancient to modern times in their Premium Auction 31 on 30 June. Besides unusual variants the highlights are a presumably unpublished Milaresion of Justinian II and a previously unpublished asper from the Genoese colony Licostomo.

Led by strong bidding across the board, especially for Chinese coins and currency, Heritage Auctions’ World Coins & Ancient Coins Auction (28-29 June 2018) and its World Currency Auction (27-29 June 2018) in Hong Kong combined to bring $4.38 million.

The pre-sale estimate of the four summer auctions rose from 5.7 million euros to a total price realized at 8.3 million euros. The splendid specialized collections in particular allured more than 2,000 national and international bidders, 300 of which were present at the auction.
