Lot 621: Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901 (240 Tpr. W. Collidge. Farmer’s Gd.) edge bruising, nearly very fine, scarce to unit. From A Collection of Queen’s South Africa Medals to Colonial Units. Estimate: 160-200 GBP.

Lot 1062: Waterloo 1815, proposed ‘Officers’ issue’ pattern in silver by Wyon, 41mm, obv. draped and laureate bust of the Prince Regent left, after Sir Thomas Lawrence’s portrait, rev. with minor differences but otherwise as for the adopted design, edge plain, attractively toned, almost proof-like, extremely fine and excessively rare. Estimate: 1500-2000 GBP.

Lot 995: Six: Battery Sergeant Major W. A. F. Deas, Royal Artillery, who was taken Prisoner of War on 17 February 1942 following the Fall of Singapore; much of his subsequent captivity was spent at Tamarkan, where the Senior British Officer was Lieutenant-Colonel P. Toosey, D.S.O., O.B.E., of ‘Bridge Over the River Kwai’ fame – as a consequence he must have endured the abysmal treatment meted out by his captors in the construction of the bridge and notorious Burma-Siam railway.
