On February 6, 2014 the Künker sale no. 244 will offer many rarities in silver and gold from Germany, Europe, the oversea countries and, most of all, Russia. The total estimate adds up to more than 4.5 million euros and this is a good indication that a great number of extremely rare gems will change hands.

CNG’s Electronic Auction 319 offers 764 lots including the childhood collection of the late Dr. Mark Blackburn, Keeper of Coins at the Fitzwilliam Museum. Auction 319 also offers a broad selection of silver antoniniani and denarii from the brief two-year reign of Macrinus.

Spirited bidding was seen in the recent sale by Stephen Album Rare Coins on January 16-18, 2014. Their 18th auction included 2470 lots of Ancient, Islamic, Oriental, Indian, and general World Coins, as well as Numismatic Literature. The total price realized came to $1,047,521.

A 14 ducat of Salzburg, minted in 1612 and so rare that it hasn’t been plated in at least a half century, sold for $211,500 to lead Selections from the Eric P. Newman Collection Part III Signature® Auction Jan. 14-16 in New York. The auction has surpassed $6 million.

A sublime collection of international numismatic rarities from one of the greatest collections ever will be offered on January 14-16 at Heritage Auctions in New York. All proceeds will benefit the Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.

Kolbe & Fanning held their annual New York Book Auction on January 11, 2014. The two-session sale offered highlights from the libraries of Quentin Archer and Herbert Kreindler and was highly successful, with sell rates of well over 90% and hitting between 130% and 150% of total estimates.
