Medals of the Jewish-American Hall of Fame 1969-2019

Jewish-American Hall of Fame medals have found homes in collections and museums around the world. Now, for the first time, a book by Mel Wacks publishes the biographies of more than 50 inductees along with their portrait medals.

Shekel Prize Medal Awarded to the Late Alex Abezgauz

The Shekel Prize Medal is awarded annually by the American Israel Numismatic Association to the author of the best book on Judaic or Holy Land numismatics. This year’s award went to Alex Abezgauz, for his book “Jewish Banknotes Based on the Collection of A. Abezgauz”.

Coins from the Mel Wacks Collection of Ancient Judaean and Related Coins will be sold by Goldberg Auctioneers. The collection has been assembled for over 50 years. Now Mel Wacks, a renowned expert on the subject, has decided to pass it along.

Oluf Gerhard Tychsen (1734-1815)

He took off to convert the Jews – and became a rabbi. The pietistic Protestant originated oriental studies and Islamic numismatics. An edited collection takes up aspects of his scientific work. Ursula Kampmann took a look at it.

New Medal in Honor of Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise

A medal designed by Eugene Daub honoring Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise has been released. It is the 50th one to be added to the Jewish-American Hall of Fame Series. Isaac Mayer Wise was an important Reform Rabbi and author of numerous theological works, essays and novels.
