The launch of South Africa’s new legal tender bullion investment coins showcasing Africa’s majestic elephant, follows the SA Mint’s successful Big 5 collectable coin series, created as a celebration of Africa’s unique natural heritage, strength, and beauty.
The Big 5 bullion coin range will introduce a new animal every five years, beginning with the elephant, followed by the lion, the rhino, the leopard and lastly, the buffalo.
Richard Collocott, Managing Director of Prestige Bullion says the launch of the new series is, in fact, South Africa’s first gold bullion coin offering since the 22 carat Krugerrand which was first introduced way back in 1967.
