From the very beginning, demand for the Directory of Circulating Coins has been high.

No wonder, since it was the first directory of its kind to be published by Currency News in 2014. Neatly classified by country, the reader will find a list of all current circulation coins from around the world, including their diameter, weight, edge design, composition and first issue. The second edition followed in 2016 and the third one in October of this year.

In the preface, editor Astrid Mitchell makes it clear that an update was necessary. Since the publication of the last edition in 2016, “… in 12 countries one or more coins have either been withdrawn or production has ceased, two countries have reintroduced or issued coins for the first time, 18 countries have changed their whole series, a further 21 have changed the image and/or compositions of at least one of their coins, and 12 countries have introduced new high denomination coins.”

The price for the book is 350 Euros. Subscribers to Currency News pay half the price, and for banks and mints the first copy is free.

More information as well as the purchase order form can be found on the website of Currency News.

In 2014, we reported on the publication of the Directory’s first issue.
