East Midlands Money and Medals Network: Medals in Museum Collections
University of Nottingham Museum
Friday 20th March, 10:00-17:00
The latest in the series of Money and Medals training events at the University of Nottingham Museum will focus on medals in museum collections. This event will feature talks on commemorative, military and art medals as well as best practice in storing and displaying medals. This day of training is FREE to attend and open to anyone working or volunteering with medal collections in museums and other heritage institutions in the East Midlands and beyond. Money and Medals South West Training Day: Medals in Museum Collections
Somerset Heritage Centre, South West Heritage Trust
Thursday 9th April, 10:00-17:00
The follow up event to last year’s South West training day will also focus on commemorative, military and art medals plus various numismatic collections management subjects. If you have medals in your museum collection and would like some ideas and inspiration about how best to make use of them, then this FREE training event could be for you. Train the Trainer 3: Iron Age and Roman coinage
Department of Coins and Medals, the British Museum
Friday 24th April, 10:00-17:00
The third in our new series of ‘train the trainer’ events will focus on Iron Age and Roman coinage. Led by Eleanor Ghey and Richard Abdy from the British Museum’s Department of Coins and Medals, this event will furnish attendees with skills in identifying and displaying Iron Age and Roman coins, skills which can then be shared with the wider museum community. Places on this course are strictly limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment. The event is FREE to attend, and booking is now open!
Money and Medals South East Training Day
Milton Keynes Museum
Tuesday 5th May, 10:00-17:00
The Money and Medals Network is holding an introductory numismatic training event in the South East of England which will be held at Milton Keynes Museum in Wolverton. This event will feature talks on the storage and display of numismatic material as well as an introduction to the identification of medieval coinage. In addition, the event will feature a tour of the museum. Full details will be available soon, but booking is now open!
For all events, a limited number of Arts Council England travel bursaries are available to support those within England who are otherwise unable to attend and will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
