Degussa Goldhandel GmbH has acquired ‘The Industry Collection of Gold Bars Worldwide’, the largest and most important collection of contemporary gold bars worldwide. It includes over one thousand culturally and historically important bars.

New Euro gold coins from Italy
In 2014, Italy issues two new Euro gold coins: The 50 Euro gold coin “Fauna in the Arts: Baroque” and the 20 Euro gold coin “Flora in the Arts: Baroque” which continue the series “Flora in the Arts” and “Fauna in the Arts” from previous years.
New 2 Euro King’s Double Portrait from the Dutch Mint
Following the 2 euro Double Portrait 2013 and the introduction of the new Dutch euro coins for 2014, a new 2 euro King’s Double Portrait will be released in May 2014. The King’s Double Portrait is the final part in the coin trilogy to commemorate the change of rule.
Japan Mint: New year, new coin sets
In 2014 Japan Mint issues various Mint Sets featuring proof coin sets and a special medal. One set celebrates the famous cherry blossom viewing, another the Horse, this year’s Oriental zodiac.

Salzburg – 5th issue in “Austria by its Children” series
On May 7, the Austrian Mint in Vienna issued the fifth silver coin in its series “Austria by its Children”. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, of course, instantly comes to mind when one thinks of Salzburg, and indeed such was the case for young artist Melisa Bejic, the student who co-designed the reverse of this coin.

Of knights in shining armour – exhibition in Schaffhausen
Between April 10 and September 21, 2014, the Museum zu Allerheiligen in Schaffhausen features an exhibition on medieval tournaments. The location is well chosen since no tournaments have been recorded in so much detail as the ones in Schaffhausen from 1436 and 1438. Ursula Kampmann has visited the exhibition for you.
The Royal Mint announces plans for first visitor centre
The Royal Mint has unveiled plans to develop a visitor centre at its headquarters in south Wales. Construction will begin this spring, subject to planning permission, and is expected to be completed during 2015.
