The Korean city of Ulsan will hold their first Ulsan Money Fair (UMF) from 18-20 November 2022. Ulsan is a city located at a southeastern tip of the Korean Peninsula which has fast grown into Korea’s industrial hub since it was designated as a Special Industrial Zone in 1962. In Ulsan’s non-ferrous metal industrial complex some of the world’s largest material supplier of coins and bullion are situated. Ulsan Metropolitan City has the Poongsan Factory that dominates more than 50% of the global coin blanks market and is preparing a numismatic fair in Korea with domestic currency-related organizations and companies such as KOMSCO (Korea Minting and Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corp.) and Poongsan Hwadong.
What is Ulsan Money Fair?
UMF 2022 is hosted by the Ulsan Metropolitan City and organized by Ulsan Tourism Organization (UTO). It will be held at the Ulsan Exhibition & Convention Center (UECO), in the centre of Ulsan from 18 to 20 November 2022.
UMF 2022 is a pure numismatic fair aiming to take the lead in revitalizing the coins collection market by expanding the base of the coin collection population in Korea.
The Korean collection market is changing into a very lively market as Koreans have had more time during the pandemic to pursue their collecting interests. Collectibles are a booming market and an asset class. Spurred by the country’s internet-driven economy a broad range of collectibles including coins, banknotes and arts have become more accessible, liquid, fungible and high profile.
