October Auction at Gorny & Mosch Focuses On German Coins

On 11th and 12th October 2021, auctions 280 “Ancient Coins” and 281 “Selected Coins and Medals of the Middle Ages and Modern Times” are held by Gorny & Mosch in Munich. Two splendid print catalogues complement the auctions. Immediately following the public auction, e-auction 282 will be held on 14 October.

Auction 280

783 ancient coins will be auctioned off on 11th October 2021 by auction house Gorny & Mosch in their business premises in Munich. For the second time, coins of the Roman provinces from the Collection of the German ancient historian and epigrapher Peter Weiß, which was built up in the years between 1967 and 2015, will be on offer. Furthermore, auction 280 contains 30 published coins (plate coins) that are depicted with images by M. & A. Hirmer in the reference works “Die Griechische Münze” (P. Franke, M. Hirmer) and “Die Römische Münze” (J. Kent, B. Overbeck, A. Stylow).

Auction 281

1003 selected coins and medals from medieval to modern times will be auctioned off on 12 October 2021 by auction house Gorny & Mosch in their business premises in Munich. The focus is on high quality pieces from the German States, Habsburg and Germany after 1871. The auction offers an extensive collection of bracteates. At the end of the auction, 158 gold coins of other bidding increments will be on offer. You will find more details in the auction catalogue.

E-Auction 282

Once again, Gorny & Mosch will hold an E-Auction immediately after the public auction. On 14 October 2021 starting at 10 a.m., coins, medals and multiple lots from antiquity to modern times will be auctioned off online. Among them are, for instance, Greek, Roman and Byzantine coins including further parts of the E.L. and Peter Weiß Collections with imperial city coinage, collections of French medals, Indian gold coins, German, Habsburg and European issues.
