Mr. YAMANA Norio was appointed as new President of Japan Mint. He took over this position in April 2021 from Mr KAWASHIMA Makoto who led Japan Mint for three years. Mr. Yamana can look back on many years in various leading positions in Japan’s National Tax Agency and Ministry of Finance.
He joined the Ministry of Finance in 1987 and has since then held positions such as Director for Budget, Director of the Tarif Policy and Legal Division and Director of the Planning and Administration Division. Before his appointment as President of Japan Mint, he was Deputy Director-General of the Minister’s Secretariat at the Ministry of Finance.
Japan Mint was founded in 1871 and celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. The head office is situated in Osaka, with branches in Saitama and Hiroshima.
