The World’s Most Expensive Russian Bond

February 14, 2019 – Not only coins and medals sell for extraordinary prices and are worth being recognized in the CoinsWeekly Coin Records. Archives International Auctions (AIA) has sent in a submission claiming that they hold the record for the most expensive Russian bond ever sold in a public auction. 

The Imperial Russian Government 4% savings bond specimen had been estimated at $400-600 before the auction. It sold for $ 12,810. Photo: ArchivesInternational.com.

On December 3, 2018, a 1917 Imperial Russian Government 4% savings bond specimen sold for $12,810 (incl. buyer’s premium) at the AIA 50th Milestone Auction. The rare piece used to be part of the John E. Herzog Collection.
