The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has unveiled the 2022 Year of the Tiger Almanac coins, the sixth issue in the Singapore Fourth Chinese Almanac Coin Series. The Series was launched in 2017 and a new coin will be issued each year over a span of 12 years to 2028. Each year’s issue depicts a zodiac animal in a park or natural landscape setting in Singapore.
2022 is the Year of the Tiger. Thus, the 2022 coins feature the Tiger against the backdrop of Haw Par Villa, an Asian cultural park in Singapore built in 1937. The obverse of each coin bears the Singapore Coat of Arms with the year 2022.
The 10 versions of the coins comprise different metallic compositions, shapes and minting relief effects running from a Nickel-plated Zinc Proof-like Coin to silver and gold proof colour coins in various denominations. Special premium sets comprising various coin combinations will also be on sale.
The official issue date is 1 January 2022. Pre-orders can be placed with The Singapore Mint from 18 November to 17 December 2021. If oversubscribed, the coins will be allocated by balloting.
