October 19, 2017 – The Ufficio Filatelico e Numismatico of San Marino issues a divisional coin set with 2 commemorative coins in proof finishing with the new national sides.
San Marino’s Proof Divisional Coin Set 2017 comprises a 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to the “750th anniversary of the birth of Giotto” and a 2 euro commemorative coin dedicated to the “International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development”.
The first 2 euro commemorative coin is dedicated to Giotto, rated among the main Italian painters, he began a new style in the Italian visual art and became a model for the Renaissance artists. The obverse side of the coin shows to the left a detail of the bell tower of the Dome of Florence and to the right a portrait of Giotto.
The second 2 euro commemorative coin is dedicated to the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, in order to promote a new mentality and to encourage tourists’ respect for environment. The idea of sustainable Tourism indicates a kind of travelling that respects the planet, it doesn’t alter the natural, social and artistic environment and it doesn’t inhibit the growth of social and economic activities.
