March 24, 2016 – Pompeii’s destruction by Mt Vesuvius in AD 79 has fascinated men ever since. First by the complete disappearing of all traces of live, then, in modern times, by the scientific relevance of the town’s rediscovery. In 2009 Melbourne Museum showed an exhibition on this topic: ‘A Day in Pompeii’.

To make these last moments of the Roman town come alive as much as possible the museum presented a stereoscopic film in an immersive 3D theatre installation. The company Zero One reconstructed single moments of Pompeii’s last day giving an oppressive impression.
Over 330,000 visitors saw this installation. In the meantime Zero One has produced other similar projects. Take a look at the company’s website.
