April 20, 2017 – At the beginning of April 2017, the official almost 400-pages-long recommendation on the new German Cultural Property Protection Act has been published. Aside from the legal text, it also entails an explanation, why the Ministry for Culture and Media thought this law to be necessary (which uses the argument of terror financing a lot less than State Minister Grütters did in her comments to the press). It explains how the Ministry wants people to interpret their new law.
As of now, there is also an English version of the legal text. The recommendation has not yet been translated into English.
You can download the recommendation on the new Cultural Assets Protection Act here.
If you would like to have a hard copy of the document, you can order it here free of charge. You can also call the publishing house of the Federal Government under +49 30-18272-2721 if you would like to order by phone.
The Ministry has created an official website on Cultural Assets Protection, unfortunately only in German so far.
You can find the English translation of the Cultural Property Protection Act of the Federal Government here. The recommendation has not been translated into English so far.
