November 11th, 2010 – Heiner Stotz owner and CEO of the well-known auction house LHS Numismatics Ltd. sent a letter to all his clients and business partners. He announced that LHS Numismatics is liquidated during the first semester 2011. Those, who are a little bit acquainted to the history of the coin trade, deplore the end of another very important Swiss coin company.
LHS Numismatics Ltd is the successor of the former numismatic department of Bank Leu, which became an autonomous enterprise as Leu Numismatics Ltd in 1992.
Heiner Stotz has sent the following message to his clients and business partners:
Jede Tradition, die zu Ende geht, erfüllt die Zurückbleibenden mit Trauer. Wir werden die qualitätvollen gelben Kataloge, die in der ganzen numismatischen Welt Maßstäbe gesetzt haben, vermissen.
After considerable thought and a thorough examination of all the options, I have decided to wind up LHS Numismatik AG in the first half of 2011. This was a very difficult decision for me, as I have had the privilege of spending many enjoyable years with the company – not least because of you. Nevertheless, I have reached the conclusion that this is precisely the right time for all concerned (clients, staff and myself).
We deplore the end of this long tradition and we will miss the yellow catalogues, which have become the measure of all numismatic catalogues.
