May 14, 2013 – Deputy Governor Lars E.O. Svensson will leave the Riksbank on 20 May when his period of office expires. Mr Svensson has been a member of the Riksbank’s Executive Board since 21 May 2007 and has notified the General Council of the Riksbank that he will not be available for re-election.

‘We would like to thank Lars E.O. Svensson on behalf of the General Council for the valuable work he has done during his time at the Riksbank. With his solid academic background he has provided an excellent contribution to developing the analysis work at the Riksbank and has successfully created interest in monetary policy issues both in Sweden and abroad,’ say Johan Gernandt, Chairman of the General Council, and Sven-Erik Österberg, Vice Chairman, in a joint comment.
As notified earlier, Deputy Governor Barbro Wickman-Parak’s period of office also expires in May.
‘We members of the General Council are now working on finding replacements for Ms Wickman-Parak and Mr Svensson,’ conclude Mr Gernandt and Mr Österberg.
