May 18, 2017 – If anyone buys coins or medals at Numismatik Lanz, they will get a guarantee for the authenticity of their objects. As a member of the International Association of Professional Numismatists and of the Association of German Coin Dealers, the auction house Lanz warrant for their objects. In order to sensitize collectors and show them how soothing it can be, if they don’t have to worry about the authenticity of the coins they purchase, Dr. Hubert Lanz created a competition on occasion of his jubilee of 70 years Numismatik Lanz. People had to find a forgery that had been put in the auction catalogue on purpose.

237 – Diadumenian as Caesar. Aureus. FORGERY!!!

It had been positioned plainly visible as an enlarged image on the back page of the catalogue. It is an excellent modern imitation of an aureus of Diadumenian. Everyone who picked number 237 in their email will get a credit note for 25 euros for their purchase at Auction 164.

If you want to have a closer look at the object, you will get to the coin right here.

Here you will find Auction 164, which will take place on 23 May 2017.
