Israel Numismatic Society establishes Arnold Spaer Memorial Fund

March 17, 2011 – The Israel Numismatic Society would like to honor one of its senior members, Arnold Spaer, who passed away last week in Jerusalem at the age of 92 by creating a grant to promote research in the study of coins of ancient Israel and the Levant. Arnold was a renowned collector of ancient coins and published several important articles as well as a his Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum, Israel I, The Arnold Spaer Collection of Seleucid Coins, Jerusalem 1998. He was an extraordinary man with an enormous interest in history and culture, who sought through his many associations to pass on to others his knowledge of and love for the study of numismatics.
