December 16, 2009 – he most recent special edition of the journal Helvetia Archaeologica provides a popular overview of the Celtic coins in Switzerland. All aspects of Celtic numismatics are dealt with consecutively: from research history to the different types, from coin circulation to the images on coins, from the production to the coin finds. A comprehensive chapter is devoted to metrology and assay – these two fields the author is specialized in since his doctoral thesis. Unfortunately the layout was done rather carelessly, and a register of the specialized literature is missing – all the same the small publication provides a very good overview for beginners.
