April 7, 2011 – On year ago the British detectorist Dave Crisp found an enormous hoard. More than 52,500 coins were buried in one pot. Due to the close cooperation between the British detectorists and the archaeologists the trove was immediately reported and could be recovered according to the rules of archaeology.
Now the Museum of Somerset announces that 320,250 Pounds were raised in order to buy the treasure with the aid of the National Heritage Memorial Fund. The museum procured another 100,000 Pounds in order to pay for its conservation.
