December 22, 2011 – A large collection valued at over $200,000 has been stolen in Larnaca, Cyprus. Approximately 500 notes were taken. Most were rare, but low grade Latin American notes, from 1890-1970. About 20 notes were from Brazil, all of them rare high value notes, before 1926.

200 mil reis 1926 p107500; 1925 p91500; 1931 p92a or b;
100 mil reis 1925 p70d50; 1893 p4950; 1908 p53
50 mil reis 1925 p820; 1931 p48d10; 1883 pA262;
10 mil reis 1907 p3210; 1923 p375; 1890 p18;
5 mil reis 1924 p215; 1909 p225; 1914 p241.
Additional notes included:
Guatemala notes from private banks starting in 1882 to1923, up to 100 pesos, and from the Bank Of Guatemala into the early 1990s. Rare notes were included but in lower grades. Approx. 100 notes from other Latin American countries, all older, mostly rare, including Nicaragua 1 peso 1896, 1 peso 1910, Honduras Banco Atlantida 1913. Mexico notes included El Banco Nacional 1000 pesos ps263 issued note and 50 centavos 1883 ps173 . Cyprus note 5 pound 1949 KGVI, Belgian Congo 5 francs 1920 Kinshasa p4aTunisia 1000 francs 1950 p29a, Colombian notes 10 pesos 1915 p325 and 1 peso 1932 pA382. Ecuador some rare 20 and 50 sucres notes before 1945. Paraguay 1.25 pesos 1889 ps161a. Greece 50-70 notes mostly 1022 and 1926 emergency issues some duplication, mostly high grades, scarce in that condition.
