First silver and gold commemorative coin 2011: The Netherlands and the Art of Painting

April 28, 2011 – On 30th May 2011, the Ministry of Finance will issue a new 5 and 10 Euro commemorative coin. The coin is being struck as a mark of honour to Dutch paintings and there will also be special issues for collectors.

Netherlands – EUR 5 – silver plated copper – 10.5 g – 29.00 mm – max. 250,000 (circulation quality).

The Dutch painting coin will be available in silver plated copper…

Netherlands – EUR 5 – 925 silver – 15.5 g – 33.00 mm – max. 12,500 (proof quality).

… as well as in silver.

Netherlands – EUR 10 – 900 gold – 6.72 g – 22.5 mm – max. 3,500 (proof quality).

Also a gold piece will be issued in proof quality.

Netherlands – EUR 5 – 925 silver Van Gogh Silver Proof 2003 and Rembrandt Silver Proof 2006 – max. 300 (Prestige set).

Besides these new coins there is now available an extremely exclusive numbered Prestige set that, in addition to the Art of Painting 5 Euro circulation, 5 Euro silver and the 10 Euro gold in Proof quality, also contains the Van Gogh Silver Proof from 2003 and Rembrandt Silver Proof from 2006. Included with the set are a comprehensive Certificate of Authenticity and gilded Master of the Mint plate.
