Chinese Fakes flood the US

February 17, 2011 – The Chinese fakes have found their way to the west coast state Washington. A coin dealer of Port Angeles informed the authorities that he was offered and had bought faked US Morgan silver dollars. Compared to an original, using a good magnifier, it was easy to recognize them as fakes. But when hope eliminates due diligence it is easy to be fooled.
Characteristics of the fakes were badly cut letters, the incorrect weight, magnetism and the untypical sound, when falling down.
These fakes are not dangerous, as long as you have them in your hands and take the time to examine them. They can become very dangerous, when you just see them in the Internet or buy them without having a closer look.

By the way, in China it is no crime to produce replicas…
