26th September 2013 saw Baldwin’s Official Coinex Auction with the first part of The Arielle Collection of British Colonial Coins going under the hammer. So many seeked-for pieces were offered that it resulted in a ‘white glove’ auction with all 818 lots selling for a total of £505,092.

During the Heritage U.S. Coins Signature Auction an original 1912 Gold Proof Set brings $358,375 to lead $17.5+ million worth of U.S. Coins at the Long Beach Numismatic Expo from September 25 to 29, 2013.

Stephen Album Rare Coins, USA-Santa Rosa (CA)

Stephen Album Rare Coins held its 17th auction on September 19-21 2013, in their offices in Santa Rosa, California. The auction comprised 2237 lots, and included Ancients, Islamic, Indian, Oriental, and World Coins, in addition to Numismatic Literature. Total hammer price was $733,261 (including buyer’s premiums).

Baldwin, HK-Hong Kong

The 55th Baldwin-Ma Tak Wo Hong Kong Coin auction on the 22nd August, proved to be one of the most exciting in the Groups history. 1187 lots went under the hammer, including lot 580, a sensational Sinkiang Province, 1898 Sungarei Silver Dollar.

The ‘King of Coins’ was just one highlight of Heritage’s three-day, $28+ million rare coin auction held in, Aug. 13-17, in Chicago. Many other rare US coins attracted collectors as well.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries, USA-Chicago

The Thos. H. Law Collection of English Gold Coins sold August 13, 2013, at the ANA World’s of Money, realized $5,016,351, double the high estimates for the entire sale. The 459 lots included many extreme rarities that had been off the market for decades.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries conducted the Official Auction of the August 2013 ANA World’s Fair of Money from August 11-16. Fourteen live auction sessions and two internet-only sessions brought the total sales to a staggering $46,483,309, including $9,807,440 in world and ancient lots.

Kolbe & Fanning Numismatic Booksellers held their 129th mail-bid sale on July 18. The sale included works on ancient, medieval and foreign coins, as well as outstanding publications on U.S. numismatics.

Woolley & Wallis, GB-Salisbury

A collection of 2,794 mint state Victorian Farthings, all dated 1890 generally all glorious mint state with full lustre, though some with spotting and minor imperfections were auctioned at Woolley & Wallis Salisbury Salerooms on 16th July.
