Stephen Album Rare Coins held its Auction 28 on May 18-20, 2017 at its offices in Santa Rosa, California. The total price realized was $1.495 million on an estimate of $1.12 million.

In the four Sincona Auctions 37-40 of May 16-18, 2017 collectors could see many fascinating offers. Ancient rarities, gold issues from all over the world, and special collections. The collection of Swiss shooting talers arose particularly fierce bidding battles.

On May 16 and 17, 2017, the Heidelberger Münzhandlung conducted two auctions. Both of these witnessed outstanding results, for instance 116,000 euros for the rarest gold coin of the German Empire and 80,000 euros for an Ansbach medal.

With a total result of 1.73 million from an estimate of 1.05 million, auction 419 was a great success and testifies a constantly high demand for high-quality coins and numismatic objects. The few unsold pieces can be purchased under special conditions.

Setting a new world record for the most valuable numismatic cabinet ever sold, the D. Brent Pogue Collection netted total sales of $106,720,432.25 over the course of five auction events held from 2015 to 2017 by Stack’s Bowers Galleries of Santa Ana, California and Sotheby’s.

On March 13-17, 2017 Künker held its Spring Auctions, and additionally on March 21, 2017 an eLive Premium Auction. The almost 6,400 lots realized 10.5 million euros on an estimate of 7.1 million euros. More than 2,500 bidders participating contributed to this result.

110,000 euros for a decadrachm of Euainetos constituted an impressive price but it was not the only outstanding result with Gorny & Mosch. This Spring Auction, too, illustrated that exceptionally graded coins obtain exceptional prices – whether from antiquity, the Middle Ages or modern times.

Thursday before World Money Fair, less than 1,000 lots were auctioned off by Künker. However, they were a class of their own. On an estimate of 6 million euros, they sold for 8.8 million euros. The hammer prices for coins from the Holy Roman Empire, the USA and Russia were particularly high.
