Peus from Frankfurt can be proud of its last successful auction sale. There were impressive prices, especially in the chapters featuring coins from Germany before 1871 and Judaica. The ancient coins also brought high hammer prices, too.

Künker, D-Osnabrück

Lots with a total estimate of about 7 million euros were sold for 11 million: That is the result of Künker’s Fall Auction Sales 2019. We present the top five, plus the top five Greek coins and an interesting coin for a small budget.

Stephen Album Rare Coins, USA- Santa Rosa (CA)

Three interesting collections helped to attract bidders to the sale. One major highlight from the collection of Dr. Axel Wahlstedt was a Mughal zodiac ½ rupee, the first of its kind offered at public auction. It realized a price of $41,650.

Roma Numismatics, GB-London

1,367 lots went under the hammer resulting in total sales of £3,143,566 (excluding fees). The sale’s highlight was an excessively rare aureus of Julia Domna in Fleur de Coin condition, sold for £80,000.

The lots of the Künker summer auctions 2019 generated €7.5 million, the estimate was €5.1 million. The hammer prices ranged from €20 to €190,000. We present the top ten and, in addition, a coin that is just as fascinating and that every pupil could have bought with his pocket money.

Goldberg Auctioneer, USA-Long Beach (CA)

Goldberg Auctioneer sold the second part of rare ancient Judaean coins from the Moussaieff Collection. Among the over 200 coins the very first Second Revolt coin in superb extremely fine condition brought the highest result: $77,500.

Stephen Album Rare Coins, USA-Santa Rosa (CA)

At Stephen Album’s the vintage Chinese section sold particularly well, with 98% of those lots selling. A large nazarana gold mohur sold for $71,400.

Dix Noonan Webb, GB-London

A very rare Roman gold coin by emperor Allectus, discovered in a newly ploughed field in Kent, sold for £552,000 at an auction held by Dix Noonan Webb. It was estimated to fetch £70,000-100,000.
