August 13, 2013 – The Principality of Andorra plans to issue circulation euro coins from January 1, 2014. The Monetary Agreement with the European Union allows the Principality to issue coins of a maximum annual amount of some 2.5 million euros. In May the winners of a design competition were presented. The coins will depict on the national side the Valley House, seat of the Andorran Parliament, the Principality’s coat of arms, the Pyrenean chamois and the Romanesque church of Santa Colonna. Currently the designs are to be approved by the European Commission. The coins will be struck at the Spanish and French Mints.
