September 16th, 2010 – Effective September 1st, 2010, the Auction and Coin Trading Company Künker, Osnabrück, took over the numismatic department of Hauck & Aufhäuser Privatbankiers located in Munich. Under the motto “Gold and numismatics at the Munich Cathedral“, Künker will continue proceedings without a break as independent Künker Numismatik AG. Personal continuity is guaranteed, because Dr Hubert Ruß, long-time staff member of Hauck & Aufhäuser Numismatics, sworn expert on coins and Eligius prize winner, will conduct affairs.
The numismatic department of Hauck & Aufhäuser Privatbankiers, specialized in trading coins, medals and precious metals, has existed since 1979. 21 coin auctions have spread the reputation of Hauck & Aufhäuser among coin collectors, dealers and academic institution worldwide. “Our bank intends to focus mainly on its core business in the future,” says Michael Schramm, personally liable partner of Hauck & Aufhäuser. “The fact that two of our three employees retired or, respectively, went into early retirement made the separation of the numismatic department easier for us”, Schramm remarks.
