The organisers of the World Banknote Summit 2020 have announced further innovations in its conference programme: in addition to a carefully considered speaker line-up, the conference is now adding both a new discussion format known as a Chatbox and a special printer’s workshop. Chatboxes are designed for discussing specific topics in small groups in depth, offering the attendees the opportunity to engage with experts and industry peers. The printer’s workshop will focus on best practices and practical solutions for print work challenges. The World Banknote Summit 2020 is set to take place in Prague, Czech Republic, from 24th to 26th February.

Speaker Line-Up with Many Experts from Various Fields

The World Banknote Summit presents a speaker line-up that promises exciting presentations and extensive learning opportunities. Representatives from various central banks and state print works from around the world, the Bank for International Settlement, law enforcement agencies as well as experts from outside the banknote community, for example from supermarket chains, universities, software and fintech companies, will be covering a broad agenda. Details on the speakers and the agenda are available on the conference website.

The conference programme will address the challenges in banknote production, demand forecasting and circulation management, data analysis, Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), the user’s perspective on cash, disruptive technologies in the payment landscape, and the role of cash in the future.

In line with the versatile agenda topics, the World Banknote Summit employs different presentation platforms and discussion formats so that the attendees can profit from the expertise present to the maximum extent possible.

New Session Format, Additional Practitioner’s Workshop

The World Banknote Summit has earned a reputation for the innovations it has introduced to banknote industry conferences. For example, with its Immersion Sessions it introduced the concept of highly focused workshops looking in detail at a topic.

The 2020 event will see the introduction of another new discussion format known as a Chatbox. These are discussion rounds including up to 8 people, which are chaired and moderated by an expert. Various Chatboxes will be run on multiple tracks, allowing delegates to choose their preferred topic of interest. The duration of 40 minutes is well balanced as it provides sufficient time to examine a defined topic, but also offers the possibility of attending several Chatboxes during the conference for maximum learning. Subjects to be covered in Chatboxes will range from currency forecast & planning models to data analysis software implementation projects.

Relevant content and practice-oriented, hands-on sessions are a signature feature of the World Banknote Summit. A session dedicated exclusively to representatives of state printing works will be run on the morning of the first day of the conference. In this two-hour session, attendees will have the opportunity to debate practical issues of banknote production with their peers in a closed setting.

Beat Attinger, managing director of the summit, said, “The format of this conference combines captivating presentations by speakers from all over the world with practical sessions where topics can be examined in detail and delegates have the opportunity to discuss and learn first-hand from the experts. The addition of Chatboxes opens up the opportunity for discussion and exchange in small groups.”
