Best Spring Auction Ever of Stephen Album
The 25th Auction of Stephen Album Rare Coins was held May 19-21, 2016 at their offices in Santa Rosa, California. 2680 lots of Ancients, Islamic, China, India, World, and Literature crossed the auction block with a total volume of $1,188,755 and a sell through rate of 77%. Mike Barry, COO of the company, said: “We were quite happy with the results. This was our best Spring auction ever and one of our best all-around. Particularly strong were the Chinese and Indian sections, which included the Paul Stevens Bengal Presidency Collection.”

Lot 113: Arab-Byzantine: “Heraclius & Constantine”, gold solidus, ca. 652 to the 660s, imitation based on the type II issues of Heraclius, struck 613-629, but likely struck at some time between about 652 and the 660s, based on the style of Sicily (Syracuse) with simple circular borders on both sides, VF, RRR.
