Catalog: KM # 59, 1977/AH1397 SAUDI ARABIA: Khalid bin Abdal Aziz, 1975-1982, 100 Halala (copper-nickel). United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) commemorative. This is an extremely rare key date 1977 100 Halala coin from Saudi Arabia in choice uncirculated condition. A few thousand coins were struck and reviewed by the Saudi government before they ultimately decided not to issue the coin, and all struck coins were supposed to have been destroyed. However, a small number of coins did survive, and some have found their way into circulation and into the numismatic market. Obverse: Crossed swords and palm tree at center flanked by dates, legend above and below Reverse: Legend above inscription in circle dividing value, date below Gem Unc, perfect struck.
