Exclusive Ancient Art Auction

On Sunday, January 15, 2017, 20.00 CET the Exclusive Ancient Art Auction will take place at Catawiki. 37 exclusive pieces of art from the Mediterranean world and Egypt will be for sale. 

Exclusive Ancient Art Auction is a cooperation between IADAA members in the tradition of the famous Basel Ancient Art Fair BAAF. It is privately organized, nevertheless, only members of IADAA have the possibility to offer objects via this auction. This means that every bidder enjoys the full range of advantages provided by IADAA: All members of IADAA guarantee the authenticity of the objects offered by the best of their professional knowledge. And they have established to the best of their ability that the objects were not stolen from excavations, architectural monuments, public institutions or private property. Therefore, buying an object at the Exclusive Ancient Art Auction is as safe as buying it in the gallery of an IADAA member.

No. 13. Etruscan-Corinthian terracotta Alabastron – 24.1 cm. Estimate: 3,400-4,500 Euro.

Two registers with panthers, mountain goats and a swan. On one side fingerprint from the potter. Size: 24.1 cm. Etruscan, Italy, 1st half of 6th century B.C. Provenance: Private collection B., Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, since the 1980s. Estimate: 3,400-4,500 Euro.

No. 05. Ancient Roman glass flask with 3 handles. Height: 10.7 cm. Estimate: 1,900-2,500 Euro.

Bluish-green glass flask with 3 handles in dark green glass, dark green glass trailing around the long cylindrical neck, on a footed base, trace of pontil, some iridescence. Height: 10.7 cm. Eastern Mediterranean, 4th-5th century A.D. Provenance; Ex collection P.C. Netherlands, published in ‘A collection of Roman Glass’ 2008, pag 56 Estimate: 1,900-2,500 Euro.

No. 11. Etruscan Oinochoe. Height 20.5 cm. Estimate: 1,300-1,700 Euro.

Ovoid body decorated with vertical grooves, around the neck 6 horizontal grooves. Handle of trapezoid shape, in the upper section twisted like a rope. Size: height 20.5 cm. Etruscan, 7th century B.C. Provenance: South German private collection, acquired 2006 at auction sale. Ex former private collection, Netherlands, since the 1960s. Estimate: 1,300-1,700 Euro.
