CNG has published its new catalog Classical Numismatic Review Vol. XL, No. 3. (Fall 2015). This month’s Review features 104 coins from the Greek to modern periods. 

417581: ATTICA, Athens. Circa 454-404 BC. Tetradrachm. Kroll 8; SNG Copenhagen 31; SNG München 49; Dewing 1591-8; HGC 4, 1597. EF. Struck on a broad flan.

Highlighting the Greek section are two high-grade Athenian tetradrachms of the 5th century BC, followed by a selection of tetradrachms of the Hellenistic kingdoms. 

411607: Ti. Claudius Ti.f. Ap.n. Nero. 79 BC. Serrate Denarius. Crawford 383/1; Sydenham 770a; Claudia 6; RBW 1411. EF, deeply toned, traces of underlying luster.

Several interesting denarii are available for the collectors of the Roman Republic.

413565: STUART. Charles I. 1625-1649. Halfcrown. Hartlebury Castle, Worcester mint. Bull 679 (same dies); Brooker 1137 (same dies); North 2626; SCBC 3129. EF. Struck on usual irregular flan. Very rare.

A run of silver pennies of the Kings of All England headline the British section, backed up by two rare and exquisite Civil War halfcrowns. 

405234: SELEUKID EMPIRE. Seleukos I Nikator. 312-281 BC. Tetradrachm. Pergamon mint. SC 1.1; WSM 1528; HGC 9, 23. Good VF, toned, some marks and cleaning scratches. Very rare. From the Friend of a Scholar Collection.

Additionally, in this list CNG offers the Seleukid portion of the Friend of a Scholar Collection. Assembled starting in the early 1980s and offered here as an intact set of 99 coins, this collection features many of the great rarities of the Seleukid series.
