3,500 kg ancient coins discovered in China
According to Chinese reports, archaeologists excavated about 3,500 kg of ancient coins in Inner Mongolia, which is located in Northern China. Most of the coins date back to the Han Dynasty.
David Dykes awarded the BNS North Book prize for 2012
The British Numismatic Society’ North book prize was awarded to Dr David Dykes for his volume on Currency and Coinage in Eighteenth-Century Britain: the Provincial Coinage. The Sanford Saltus Medal was awarded to Dr Martin Allen.

The Coins and Medals display ‘Bubbles and Bankruptcy: financial crises in Britain since 1700’, traces the history of financial crisis from the first stock bubbles of the 18th Century through to the current banking crisis. The exhibition will be on show until May 5, 2013.
