First all-Celtic coin auctions in Britain

Chris Rudd, the Celtic coin specialist based in Norfolk, will hold six e-Auctions a year which are dedicated exclusively to Ancient British coins. The first of these all-Celtic coin auctions is already online. It will be closing on Sunday 15 March.

36,000 euros for an aureus of Philip I, 50,000 euros for an aureus of Hostilian, and 65,000 euros for a solidus of Glycerius; these prices evidence that Roman gold is again good for records. The other results of Gorny & Mosch sale 228 to 230 are nothing to sneeze at, either.

Fritz Rudolf Künker, D-Osnabrück

9.6 million euros was the total hammer price of Künker’s March sale, that was conducted on March 9-13, 2015. That result exceeded the estimate by about 50%. This was due to some extraordinary results. 180,000 euros for a Siculo-Punic tetradrachm is impressive, indeed.

Gorny & Mosch, D-Munich

On March 9-12, 2015 Gorny & Mosch will hold its March auction week featuring coins and medals from ancient, medieval and modern times. A series of coins from the city of Athens is offered, supplemented with Russian rarities and a collection of French coin types.

Fritz Rudolf Künker, D-Osnabrück

Over 6.700 lots with a total estimate of more than 6.5 million euros will be auctioned off by Künker on March 9-13, 2015. There are German and world coins featuring multiple special collections. Phaleristic objects and ancient coins are particularly well represented this time.
