Strike 5/5 Surface 4/5 Fine Style. Alexandria mint. 27.75gm. Veiled head of the deified Arsinoe II right; above, tip of a lotus scepter; Double cornucopia bound with fringed diadem. Svoronos 486; Olivier & Lorber dies 1/1; SNG Copenhagen -. One of only five known with the M control, extremely rare. Superb strike, surfaces, and luster and a very rare variety. 1048247: Italian States. Venice. 1848-V. AR 5 Lire. NGC MS65. Venice. REPUBBLICA VENETA. Lion of St. Mark to left in linear circle, date 22 MARZO 1848 in lower margin / UNIONE – ITALIANA. 5 / LIRE. 2-line inscription in wreath. KM 804. We note that a NGC MS65 example of the date and type realized $6462 including the Buyer’s Premium in January, 2017. Attractive cabinet patina. $5,750.
