Roma, helmeted and in military attire, standing to the right, inscribing round shield held on knee an left foot resting on a helmet beside dagger and bow; in field to either side, EX – SC. C 230; BMC 43; RIC 38; Calicó 436. Beautifully toned and sharply struck in high relief, dies of lovely style. Exceptional. Ex NAC 51, 2009, 193. $29,500.

Draped bust, right, with hair in coil at back / VENVS FELIX. Venus seated left, holding Victory and sceptre; below seat, a dove standing, left . C 39; BMC Commodus 47; RIC Commodus 287; Calicó 2377. Blazing luster, perfectly struck on a generous flan. Superb and exceptional; one of the finest surviving Crispina aurei. Ex NAC 25, 2003, 496. $115,000.

Taku Forts Bombardment Medal
1046291: China. Kwang Su. (1875-1908). 1900 AR Medal. PCGS SP63. By Oertel. 34.5mm. 18.33gm. S.M.S. ILTIS KANONENBOOT. Gunboat / BOMBARDEMENT DER TAKU FORTS 1900. View of the bombardment at the Peiho river. On the gunboat SMS Iltis and the Taku Forts Bombardment. Struck to commemorate the assault of the Eight Nations Alliance up the Haihe River where they encountered large casualties, but were eventually successful in gaining the Taku Forts. The ship on the reverse was a German vessel which took sixteen shells during the assault, the highest of any foreign ship in the battle. Superbly toned. $4,500.

1044905: Great Britain. (1966-Dated) AV Medal. NGC MS63UCAM (Ultra Cameo). By J. T. & Co. Edge: #48 (of 100). 76mm. 410gm. THE GREAT FIRE OF LONDON / 1666. Great Seal of King Charles II and a view of London before the fire, and signed J. T. & Co. with hallmarks below the date / Phoenix arising from a block of burning buildings over the Thames. Unlisted in Eimer. Great Fire of London Gold Medal, struck in 22k fine gold. Only 100 pieces minted. Prooflike and superb, a massive medal weighing 410 grams (over 14 ounces). Includes original case, certificate and collector’s ticket, housed in an oversized holder. $24,500.
