On August 1 and 2, 2014 the sale of The Richard L. Lissner Collection will take place at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare. Now is the time for Internet and Mail (postal) Bidders to submit their bids and register for the sale.

Louis Teller Numismatic Company of Encino, California, are conducting the sale of The Richard L. Lissner Collection – The Collection of an American Connoisseur on 1-2 August 2014 at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare, just prior to the annual summer convention of the American Numismatic Association in Rosemont, Illinois.

Lot 147. CRETE, Cretan State. Prince George of Greece. High Commissioner, 1898-1906. AR 5 Drachmai (37mm, 25.01 g, 6h). Paris mint; différents: cornucopia and torch. Henri-Auguste Patey, engraver general. Régie des Monnaies, directors. Dated 1901. KM 9. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 64 WINGS APPROVED. Superb choice uncirculated with beautiful iridescent toning over muted prooflike lustrous surfaces. Highest ever graded and probably finest known example. Estimate: $10,000.

Lot 535. ITALY, Sicilia (Regno). Giuseppe Bonaparte. 1806-1808. AR Piastra – 120 Grana (38mm, 27.59 g, 6h). Napoli (Naples) mint. Dated 1808. KM (C) 100; Davenport 165. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65 WINGS APPROVED. Very lightly toned. Superb coin. Just a few faint adjustment marks before the neck. Very fresh. Highest ever graded. Last year of type.  Estimate: $3,000.

Lot 828. ROMANIA, Principality. Carol I. As Domnitor, 1866-1881. AV 20 Lei (21mm, 6.43 g, 6h). Bucharest mint. Candescu, chief engineer. Dated 1870 C. KM 7; Friedberg 2. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 67 WINGS APPROVED. Superb gem BU. Highest graded by five grades. Unimprovable. Incredibly rare so choice. Mintage of 5,000 pieces. Estimate: $6,000.

New World

Lot 1661. ECUADOR, Republic. 1830-pres. Specimen AR 1/2 Sucre (30mm, 12.52 g, 6h). Heaton (Birmingham) mint. Dated 1884. KM 52. In NGC encapsulation graded SP 67 WINGS APPROVED. Gem deeply toned iridescent multicolored uncirculated. Only two of these very rare coins have ever been graded, one in SP 61 and the present piece in SP 67. An absolutely amazing coin. Estimate: $3,000.

Lot 2165. VENEZUELA, Republic. 1830-present. AR 2 Reales (23mm, 4.60 g, 6h). Paris mint; différents: hand and anchor. Désiré-Albert Barre, engraver general. Ch.-Louis Dierickx, director. Dated 1858 A. KM (Y) 10. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65 WINGS APPROVED. Gem beautifully colored proof-like. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful coins in this collection. Highest graded for the type. Estimate: $6,000.
