Dr. Globus, a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, had started his career as Professor of Biochemisty at Fairleigh Dickinson University, but as early as 1940 he licensed a chemical process for the electrolytic recovery of iron from iron ore – and in 1942 created the company that would later become United Guardian, Inc. A consultant to the War Production Board during WWII, he produced tungsten concentrates from 1943 onwards. During his career of sixty-plus years, he was granted more than 35 patents, which allowed him to afford collecting coins and stamps of great importance, as numerous auctions testify.
