Kolbe & Fanning Numismatic Booksellers and Fritz Rudolf Künker GmbH & Co. KG jointly held an online eLive auction of the second part of the outstanding and comprehensive library on ancient numismatics formed by New York coin dealer Herbert Kreindler on Thursday, February 13, 2014.
The sale brought exceptionally strong prices, attesting to continued demand for both standard references and rare and out-of-print titles. Aggressive bidding from clients around the world resulted in record prices for many works, especially classic auction catalogues.
Many lots sold for multiples of the estimates; overall, the sale realized 112,981€ (approximately $154,000 on a pre-sale estimate of $72,900): an amazing 212% of estimate.
